Exposure Decision Analysis Registry Review Course: April 26, 2016

What are AIHA Registry Programs?  They provide recognition for safety and IH professionals who have developed skills and expertise in a single or limited number of the occupational hygiene profession’s core competencies.  These registries fill a credential gap for professionals for which a broad certification is not currently applicable for a variety of reasons.  AIHA Registry Programs help to supplement and enhance safety and IH professions by expanding the opportunities for practitioners to develop and demonstrate competency in a specialty area of practice.

A Registered Specialist with an Exposure Decision Analysis credential is certified in their ability to use basic characterization and monitoring data to make informed decisions about worker exposure and exposure uncertainty.  The certification is valid for 2 years, at which time a re-assessment is required to renew the credential.  Note: this 6 1/2 hour review course which will be instructed by a leading expert in this field is not required to sit for the exam, but is being offered to help individuals prepare individuals for the examination.  Note: There is not an additional charge for taking the test.

There are no specific requirements (education, time in job, job function, etc.) for candidates to be eligible to sit for the competency assessment.  However, training and/or experience in using IH data interpretation tools will assist in passing the competency assessment (as will taking the review course).  Applicants must submit a completed Exposure Decision Analysis Registry application covered in the course.  Participants’ names and email addresses will be submitted to the AIHA.  They in turn will allow a three week window for the participants to take the on-line exam at a time convenient for them.

The Exposure Decision Analysis Registry Competency Assessment (the on-line test) is designed to determine an individual's proficiency in statistical analysis regarding exposure data. The assessment is composed of a three parts: 1) a multiple-choice section that that focuses on the general knowledge areas in the Exposure Data Analysis Body of Knowledge (BoK); 2) a multiple-choice section based on interpretation of supplied data sets, and 3) an essay component designed to assess the candidate’s process used to establish and continuously improve the quality of their exposure decisions.
