About Us

The American Industrial Hygiene Association® (AIHA) is one of the largest international associations serving the needs of occupational and environmental health and safety professionals  in industry, government, labor, academic institutions, and independent organizations.


Founded in 1939, AIHA® is a nonprofit organization with 73 international local sections. AIHA has approximately 11,000 national members which are highly educated professionals; 80 percent are college graduates, 42 percent hold master's degrees, and 12 percent possess doctoral degrees.  AIHA and its local sections:

  • are devoted to achieving and maintaining the highest professional standards for our members.
  • are devoted to administering comprehensive education programs that keep occupational and environmental health and safety professionals current in the field of industrial hygiene.
